Bullying

Bullying can happen to anyone at any age, in any walk of life.

Bullying can be name calling, sarcasm, being deliberately embarrassed or even physical violence.

Bullying can have a devastating effect upon a person’s life.

Bullied children can feel frightened and alone. They may not feel that they can tell school friends or a teacher, and many children will have few friends outside school.

Bullied children may find it difficult to talk to parents and family about the problem. This is because they fear to be branded as a ‘tell-tale’, or perhaps action may be taken against their wishes and so worsen the situation.

People who are being bullied can find it helpful to talk to someone about the effect bullying is having on them, about the feelings of isolation, lack of confidence and helplessness. Someone who will not judge you or tell others about your fears and feelings.

The Samaritans can help; all calls are treated in the strictest confidence.

Are you being bullied?

Do you know anyone who is being bullied?
